Traditions

I was talking with a few of my "friends" today about the holidays and traditions. I am always looking for cute traditions to incorporate with my own. I love traditions. I think that is part of the reason why I love the holiday season. So, if you have any you would like to share I would love to hear them.

Well, "friend", I already shared some of my traditions with you. I'll be checking back frequently, though, to see if some of your other "friends" have good ideas to copy/ steal. ;)

We like to sleep under the tree the night before Christmas Eve. Leave the lights on too!! I started doing that in college at Ricks.
Another (because my entended family is weird and complicated) is that Christmas Day, we just have appetizers and left overs. They must be "fancy" ones, not just cocktail weinies, and then this allows everyone to mingle without actually having to talk unless they want too! But its way fun and easy!
BTW I'm Cindi's friend!! LOL

Megan, THis is simple, but super fun. Every year the day after thanksgiving we go to a store and each pick out an ornament for the tree. I write the name and the year on the bottom of who picked it. Then every year when decorate the tree the kids are sooooo excited to see their ornaments. I think I will be really fun to give them to them when they get married to start their own trees. But needless to say, right now our tree is filled with scooby doo, spider man and nascar and football ornaments. I always try to pick something really girly to balance it out a little.

I thought of a tradition I didn't tell you about. We put up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving (while listening to Christmas music). I'm loving having it up! :D

Kayte, doesn't the whole sleeping under the tree cause some technical difficulties for Santa? Just wondering.

Hey Megan! How's colorado? One tradition we have (that I was totally against at first...but now love) is to save the stockings for Christmas evening. That way we still have something to look forward to that night. And since we've stopped traveling to utah for Christmas it helps to have something to look forward to. Other tradition is to get pjs' for their christmas eve present. One our neighbor taught us last year was the pickle. Buy a pickle ornament and hide it on Christmas Eve somewhere in the tree, then the first person to find it gets to be the first person to open a present.

Typing this has just made me so excited for Christmas....only 23 more days!!!

My favorite family Christmas tradition was a stocking stuffer we received each year. My mom didn't buy sugar cereals very often, so as a special treat, we would each get our very own box of our favorite cereal.
